2023 Norman Lady Tigers Basketball Preview – Presented by Orthodontic Specialists of Oklahoma

NORMAN TIGERS

GIRLS

Coach: Frankie Parks

22-23 Record: 22-5

The Tigers have only missed the state tournament once in the past five years, and they hope another talented 2023-24 team will make it five in six years. “Norman High girls basketball is coming off of a 22-5 season, in which they finished runner-up in Class 6A,” head coach Frankie Parks said. Perhaps the state’s premier dynasty of the past half-decade, Norman High graduated 12 seniors from its state-runner-up campaign in 2023 (and coincidentally added a 15-deep freshman class) and returns only two seniors. Luckily, ESPN 5-star recruit Keeley Parks (5-11, Jr.) is back for the Tigers. The combo guard, who led the Tigers in several major statistical categories as a sophomore, earned maxpreps.com All-American honors and was the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference player of the year in 2023. “Junior Keeley Parks returns as the lone starter for the Tigers. Parks led the Tigers last year in points (20.9), assists (4.5) and steals (4.3) and finished as the Class 6A Offensive Player of the Year,” the head coach said. Parks has offers from LSU, Arizona, Cal, Texas and more — and she’s not the only Division I recruit on the Norman roster. Point guard Ady Hybl (5-5, So.), daughter of University of Oklahoma head men’s golf coach Ryan Hybl and niece of former Sooners quarterback Nate Hybl, has received attention from Furman, University of Texas-Permian Basin and others. Parks called Hybl a “fire plug” and an “energizer” for the Tigers and expects her to assume a greater in the Tigers on-court flow this year.  “This year, the Tigers will look to junior Destinee Deer (5-10), junior Gabi Lee and sophomore Ady Hybl to make up for the departures of its senior class,” Parks said. “The Tigers are in a tough district and will look to make some significant noise with the district and 6A.” The Tigers open the season Nov. 28 at Putnam City West and open at home Dec. 1 against Yukon.
