As the Norman Tigers prepare to take on rival Norman North, senior Port Hartsock is focusing on his assignments as a wide receiver under head coach Rocky Martin. This is the final season of prep football for Hartsock and his fellow senior teammates.
“I’ve loved football since flag, it’s been my favorite. I grew up playing basketball, soccer, and baseball as well. I love the culture coach Martin and the coaching staff have set over the years, as a player getting to compete against a really competitive nature makes practice much more enjoyable,” said Hartsock.
Like many of his football peers, Hartsock said it’s the teammates and relationships that
mean the most. “The people, it’s a great place to meet friends, it feels like the coaches are always there for you on and off the field. I’m excited to soak up senior year with all my friends but most importantly playing with my younger brother,” said Hartsock.
The senior was quick to point to other teammates who deserve some coverage this season. “A couple of teammates to watch are Kurt Cater and Collin Patterson. As a team, it’s a really fun group of guys that enjoy being around each other,” said Hartsock.
Hartsock is a member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee and said his favorite subject in school is history. “History would probably be my favorite because of the teacher, I’ve had Mr. Kniffen for the last two years now. I’m not 100 percent sure yet but I like the idea of communications or journalism then finding something related to sports,” said Hartsock.
