Norman High School varsity football player Anthony Norris sees more than a roster when he looks around the Tigers’ locker room. He sees a connected group built on loyalty, effort and the willingness to battle for one another.
“I learned that this team is one big family and will fight for each other no matter what,” Norris said.
That family mindset has helped define Norman’s approach as the Tigers work through the season. Norris said the team’s 2-2 start has included encouraging performances, including one from teammate Woodley Johnson.
“The team is off to a 2-2 start. I would say Woodley Johnson,” Norris said when asked which teammate has stood out so far.
For Norris, football is also a source of perspective. The sport has reinforced the importance of resilience, especially when a game or season does not unfold as expected. That mentality extends beyond the field and shapes how he approaches challenges.
“That no matter what the score is, just keep your head up and keep grinding,” Norris said.
Norris hopes the remainder of the season brings growth for both himself and the Tigers. While winning remains a major goal, he also wants to continue developing relationships with teammates and improving alongside them.
“I’m expecting to grow and improve with this team, create new bonds and obviously WIN,” Norris said.
He also credits former or current teammate Landyn York for making a lasting impact through his example of motivation and work ethic.
“Landyn York has left a great impression on me with motivation and hard work,” Norris said.
Away from football, Norris is grateful for the support system behind him.
“I want to shoutout my nana for always being there for me,” Norris said.
